History of UK public spending: engagement events

Researchers: Julian McCrae | Dr Catherine Haddon

Project overview

This project consists of a number of events and witness seminars to be held in support of the large research study we are co-funding on the history of the UK’s planning and control of public expenditure from 1993 to 2015, led by the University of Oxford and the Institute for Fiscal Studies. This is co-funded by the Institute for Government and the Nuffield Foundation.

The content of each event will be determined in line with the core research led by Professor Hood at the University of Oxford. The Institute for Government will support that team with designing programmes and identifying speakers, as well as handling all event logistics.

We aim to improve people’s lives by funding research that informs social policy, primarily in Education, Welfare and Justice. We also fund student programmes that give young people skills and confidence in science and research.

We are an open, collaborative and engaged funder that offers more than money. Through connecting the individual projects we fund, we strengthen their collective impact and give voice to an overarching narrative.
