More social policy projects

We occasionally fund projects that lie outside our main areas of interest in social policy but which contribute to our commitment to improve social well-being. You can see some examples on this page.

We have funded the set up of a website for the pressure group Straight Statistics. The group's aim is to detect and expose the distortion and misuse of statistical information, and identify those responsible.

Following on from the Nuffield Council on Bioethics' report on forensic bioinformation, we funded Dr Carole McCartney to identify new principles for the preparation of new legislation into the use of forensic bioinformation by the justice system.

Elsewhere, we have funded an investigation of the application of the 'impaired ability' criterion for compulsory treatment of patients under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003.
