Re-sampling is a theme within reasoning about data. Links to relevant activities and resources are on the right hand side of this page. 

The notion of variability can be reinforced through the use of software that facilitates re-sampling so that, for example, it becomes clear that the sample mean changes its value in each sample.

Re-sampling techniques might enable students to appreciate the extent of the variability in the sample statistic (such as the sample mean), compared to that in the population (for example, the mean).
