Teacher supply after the pandemic

In partnership with NFER

By Nuffield Foundation

While the COVID-19 pandemic eased the teacher supply challenge in the short term in England, the wider labour market resurgence since pandemic restrictions began lifting in 2021 means the longer-term pressure on teacher supply has resumed. The need to make teaching an attractive and rewarding graduate career choice is a policy priority once again.

At this online event, NFER will reveal the latest findings from a three-year project funded by the Nuffield Foundation into teacher supply, shortages and working conditions. A panel of education experts will reflect on the research findings and give their thoughts and recommendations on what can be done to enhance teacher recruitment and retention. There will also be an opportunity to ask the panellists questions.
