However the current consultation ends up shaping the Government’s reforms to the SEND system, the next few years look highly likely to be a time of significant change. Robust evidence, representing the full range of stakeholder perspectives and voices, will be vital for understanding and evaluating any new approaches.
With this in mind, the Nuffield Foundation warmly invites you to hear three of our funded research teams present their latest evidence on SEND and then participate in a facilitated discussion aimed at helping shape our future interests – and the broader research agenda – in this area.
Research presentations
- Susana Castro-Kemp of the School of Education at the University of Birmingham and Loic Menzies of the Centre for Education Systems, who are investigating SEND systems across 17 international jurisdictions
- Luke Sibieta of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, who has been conducting in-depth analysis of the funding challenges posed by the rapid rise in SEND over recent years
- Matt Walker of the National Foundation for Educational Research, who is leading a study of the drivers and impacts of the unequal distribution of pupils with SEND across England’s mainstream schools
