The Nuffield Foundation’s RDUK programme funds research that seeks to deepen understanding of the barriers and pathways to a racially just and inclusive society.
With the funding announcement of four prestigious research projects earlier this year, the Foundation brought together research, policy and civic leadership to better understand, and act on, what the legacies of Commonwealth migration and settlement in the UK mean for our racially diverse present and future.
This event marked the start of building a community of interest in RDUK’s work. With an introduction to the programme, its aims, and its initial research portfolio, we aimed for this to be an interactive event: your ideas, feedback and engagement would help shape where RDUK should focus next.
It also highlighted RDUK’s distinctive focus on how past and present racial diversity influences the well-being of UK society, and created connections across a cross-sector community of academics, policymakers, civil society and funders. In doing so, it aimed to generate fresh insight and debate on issues of racial diversity and justice, and to explore how evidence can inform more inclusive futures.
