Our Approach to Pay

The Nuffield Foundation seeks to pay our people fairly and competitively.

The Foundation seeks to pay our people fairly and competitively, both in relation to their peers and other relevant external organisations, in order to recruit and retain those with the skills and experience we need.

Our Remuneration strategy and policies are overseen by a Trustee led Staff and Remuneration Committee which normally meets at least twice each year and approves any annual uplift to salaries or any changes to remuneration strategy.

The Foundation is an accredited Living Wage Foundation employer and will ensure that all employees, casual workers and third party contractors are paid the London Living Wage as a minimum. Further information can be found here.

We periodically benchmark remuneration levels and our associated policies and our overall employee proposition, in order to ensure that they still meet our aims. The last review took place in the summer of 2021.

We are committed to ensuring that starting salaries are published on the adverts of all of our vacancies.

Although the Foundation’s headcount is under that for statutory reporting purposes, we have chosen to publish information on our gender and ethnicity pay gaps. Please refer to the Annual Report on the Governance pages of our website for this information.

It is recognised that pay forms just one part of the remuneration package and employment proposition that we offer to our employees, and we will continue to keep our wider offer of benefits under review to ensure we are providing an attractive and fair proposition.

Further information on our Governance and Finances can be found on our website.
