Prize winning students!

Each year, Nuffield Research Placement students do an amazing job at presenting their work at top competitions and conferences. This year was no different and we have some stories to share from some of our incredible students who took part in a Nuffield Research Placement in 2018.

The Big Bang Competition

At the March 2019 Big Bang Finals Competition, over 40 Nuffield students presented their work to a panel of judges and hundreds of young budding scientists.

Sayeed Ahmed from Woodhouse College won the special award prize for his project on pressure effects on the physiochemical properties of nanoparticles. Sayeed will now be representing the UK at the London International Youth Science Forum this summer.

Poppy Bradley from Chigwell School wowed the judges with her project at University College London. Read all about her journey to the Big Bang fair here

The BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition

Oran Timoney won the prestigious RCSI Award earlier this year. A really impressive achievement! We spoke with Oran about his time during placement and at the competition, including his plans for the future.

The Water Prize

Congratulations to Alanah Ferguson from Kirkcaldy High School who was a runner up of the Water Prize with her project on Laboratory Experiments of a Submerged Wave Energy Device. Great work, Alanah!
