Our Approach to Pay

The Nuffield Foundation seeks to pay our people fairly and competitively.

The Foundation seeks to pay our people fairly and competitively, both in relation to their peers and other relevant external organisations, in order to recruit and retain those with the skills and experience we need.

Our Remuneration strategy and policies are overseen by the Staff, Nominations and Remuneration Committee (a sub-committee of our Trustees) which normally meets at least twice each year and approves any annual uplift to salaries or any changes to remuneration strategy. We periodically benchmark remuneration levels in order to ensure that they still meet our aims, with the last full review taking place in 2021.

It is recognised that pay forms just one part of the remuneration package and employment proposition that we offer to our employees, and we also regularly review our wider offer of benefits to ensure we are providing an attractive and fair proposition.

The Nuffield Foundation is an accredited Living Wage Foundation employer and we will ensure that all employees, casual workers, interns and third party contractors are paid the London Living Wage as a minimum. The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually.

Although the Nuffield Foundation’s headcount is under that for statutory reporting purposes, we have chosen to publish information on our gender and ethnicity pay gaps. Please refer to the Annual Report on the Governance pages of our website for this information.

We are committed to ensuring that starting salaries are published on the adverts of all of our vacancies.

Further information on our Governance and Finances can be found on our website.
