IFS Green Budget 2013-2016

The IFS Green Budget (so called by analogy with a green paper compared to a white paper) is a comprehensive and independent assessment of the state of the public finances, the key economic questions and various policy options in the run up to the Chancellor’s Budget.

The areas covered in the Green Budget include

  • The outlook for the public finances
  • The squeeze on household living standards and possible policy responses
  • Policies aimed at stimulating the housing market
  • Childcare policy
  • Business rates

The Nuffield Foundation first funded the Green Budget in 2013, and awarded a second, four-year grant in 2014.
