Tax, benefit and employment
We fund projects aimed at improving our system of tax, benefit and employment.
We are a co-funder of The Mirrlees Review, managed by the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), which will make recommendations for how the UK tax system can be reformed to better meet the needs of an open developed economy in the 21st century.
Our support of the 2011 Workplace Employment Relations Survey will enable researchers to examine the medium term impact of the recession on workers and workplaces.
Other projects in this area include an analysis of how the tax system impacts on charities and an assessment of whether consideration of compliance costs could be applied to social security benefits and income related tax credits.
Our work in tax, benefit and employment crosses several of our grant programmes, but is predominantly funded by our Open Door Programme.
