Control of breathing rate

Investigate how carbon dioxide and oxygen in the air affect the breathing rate of a locust, and compare this with information collected from using a spirometer to investigate human breathing.

• Investigating factors affecting the breathing rate of a locust
  Hold a living locust in a clear plastic syringe. Change the concentration of carbon dioxide in its atmosphere. Observe original breathing rate and any changes to the rate.
