Nuffield Foundation re-launches Social Science Small Grants Scheme

31 March 2010

The Nuffield Foundation has re-launched its Social Science Small Grants Scheme.

Trustees will award grants of up to £15,000 for research projects in line with the Foundation’s areas of interest including:

  • Children and families
  • Education
  • Law and society
  • Older people and their finances
  • Government, law-making and constitutional change
  • Poverty and disadvantage
  • Cross national comparisons
  • Reviews of government policy or practice
  • Development in Africa

Applications will be considered until the end of 2010. Full guidance and further information is available from the Foundation’s website.

The grants are part of the Nuffield Foundation’s commitment to building research capacity in the social sciences. Following completion of a review by trustees, the Small Grants Scheme will be succeeded by a new funding stream, details of which will be announced in autumn 2010.

Further information about the rationale behind this interim scheme is contained in this letter sent to all Social Science Deans of UK universities.
