Age Equality Comes of Age

This event was organised by the Institute for Public Policy Research, with Third Age Employment Network, on Tuesday 7 October. The meeting was addressed by Patricia Hewitt MP, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, and was funded by the Nuffield Foundation, following its support of a series of seminars on Age Equality.
On Tuesday 7 October the Institute for Public Policy Research, with Third Age Employment Network, held an event entitled ‘Age Equality Comes of Age’. The event was funded by the Nuffield Foundation, following its support of a series of seminars on Age Equality. The meeting was addressed by Patricia Hewitt MP, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and chaired by Sarah Spencer of IPPR.
The event explored the issues raised by the Government’s proposals to outlaw age discrimination at work, which have to be implemented by October 2006 and on which it is currently consulting. A policy report, Age Equality Comes of Age, is available from IPPR Publications Department. A book bringing together materials from the seminar series, Age as an Equality issue, edited by Sandra Fredman and Sarah Spencer can be obtained through the Hart Publishing website.
