First major study of Putin - the man and his politics
Tue, 9 August 2005

Vladamir Putin has had a major domestic and international impact since his election as Russian President in March 2000 and yet remarkably little is known about the man in the West.
Richard Sakwa is Professor of Politics at the University of Kent and a leading analyst of Russian politics; the research for his latest book was funded by a grant from the Foundation's Social Science Small Grants scheme.
Putin: Russia's Choice is the first major study of the man and his politics. Richard Sakwa's discussion provides the biographical and political context to explain Putin's astonishing rise from anonymous KGB apparatcik to leader of one of the world's most important and significant countries.
