How many years has De Montfort University offered placements to Nuffield Science Bursary students?
This is the first year that bursary placements have been offered in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at De Montfort University, although in previous years other departments at the University have offered placements.

How is the scheme run within your department?
The Regional Coordinator for Leicestershire contacts interested project supervisor and negotiates the student placements. The university provides the facilities and training.

What do you feel the main benefits of the scheme are?
As this is one-to-one student supervision, there is the advantage of a personally tailored research experience for the students. For the university, this is a good way of opening its doors to wider community.

Would you recommend the scheme to others?
Certainly. The students are able to contribute well to existing research groups and projects.
