The longitudinal development of child self-regulation
Dr Sarah Halligan and Professor Lynne Murray
School of Psychology, University of Reading
£141,421 over 2 years
Dr Sarah Halligan and Professor Lynne Murray will address the causes and consequences of the increasing incidence of mental health referrals resulting from children’s disruptive and anti-social behaviour in the UK. Through a study of a pre-existing sample they will examine the contributions of early child regulatory ability and maternal parenting behaviour to the development of dysregulation in childhood, and to the occurrence of behavioural disorder. The project will facilitate a transition from the biology of adult disorder to developmental research for Dr Halligan, together with acquisition of skills in specialist methods for longtitudinal data analysis.
