Dr Amrita Narlikar and Dr Andrew Hurrell want to explore the foreign policy and negotiating strategies which developing countries pursue within a range of international institutions and regimes, including those related to trade, environment and security. They will undertake a comparative case study of Brazil and India which they will set within the broader comparative context of the strategies employed by other developing countries including China. Dr Narlikar has expertise in international economic regimes and inter-state coalitions of developing countries. She will acquire knowledge of the national foreign policy making process, the politics of developing countries, and comparative politics.
