Capacity
The Nuffield Foundation has a long-term stake in capacity-building in education as with several other areas.
Opportunities for support are available to educational researchers under the Foundation’s two capacity-building schemes for social scientists:
• the Small Grants Scheme
• the New Career Development Fellowships Scheme
We try to contribute to building capacity at the interface between research, policy and practice by focussing project outcomes on impact and engagement with policy-makers and practitioners. In particular, we convene a regular seminar series, the Nuffield Education Seminars, which aim to encourage the discussion of research findings among policy and professional communities.
Nuffield has collaborated with the New York-based Social Sciences Research Council over the past few years to promote cross-national comparative research on the children of immigrants in schools. You can find details of our International Working Group at www.ssrc.org. The Foundation is now contributing to an International Fellowships Program, funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation.
