Longitudinal and life course studies: International Journal

Wed, 24 June 2009

Longitudinal and life course studies embrace an expanding field of research that involves follow-up of people across the whole or part of their lives. Such research contributes especially to the understanding of developmental processes, including ageing, and spans academic disciplines in the social, economic, psychological and biological, sciences.

There is no single journal currently available that offers the necessary interdisciplinary perspective, rapid publication and cost free access for communicating the findings to the academic, policy and practitioner communities with interest in them.

A Nuffield Foundation award to Longview will support the development of such a quarterly peer reviewed journal. A team with an Editorial Board of internationally distinguished membership, has been scoping the journal’s operations and policies. It is hoped the Foundation's support will consolidate this work and enable the move to the next phase of producing the first and subsequent five issues of the journal by which time the journal would be self-financing.
