Adult education and citizenship in Ghana: Educating for wealth or well-being?

Dr Katharine Skinner and Dr Lynne Brydon will undertake an historical case study of the nature and impact of adult education in Ghana since the 1940s, in relation to conceptions of and the teaching of citizenship. The study will include an assessment of the World Bank education strategy, the role of NGOs in education policy and practice, and the potential for citizenship teaching in Ghana. Dr Skinner is an historian. She will acquire quantitative methodology skills, policy expertise, and research experience in new geographical regions in Ghana.
