Nuffield Foundation announces additional £20 million research funding, Fellowship programme, and major data ethics initiative in new five-year strategy

The Nuffield Foundation will award an additional £20 million for funding research and development projects over the next five years, bringing its anticipated expenditure for the period 2017-2022 to at least £70 million.

Professor Sir Keith Burnett appointed Chair-elect of the Nuffield Foundation

The Nuffield Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Sir Keith Burnett as Chair-elect of its Board of Trustees.

Professor Sir Keith Burnett is President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield and a renowned Physicist specialising in ultra-cold atomic physics. He is also President of the Science Council, a member of the Council of Science and Technology reporting to the Prime Minister, and of the Infrastructure Advisory Council, which advises the Treasury on major investments.

Cosmetic procedures practice and promotion ‘cause for serious concern’, says Nuffield Council on Bioethics

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics has published a wide-ranging new report, Cosmetic procedures: ethical issues, which makes a series of recommendations that highlight areas of concern for the practice and promotion of invasive cosmetic procedures in the UK. The Council is funded by the Nuffield Foundation, the Wellcome Trust and the Medical Research Council.
